| Keith cares deeply about finding a cure for brain cancer. He has always worked to help kids understand neuroscience and to try to inspire budding scientists. He worked with students at UES, UCLA, bringing human brains for them to observe and hold. He sponsors neuroscience education for Los Angeles students through Cedars. Keith successfully removed Dan's brain tumor in June 2002. Thank you Keith! | I first met Randy at an Apple Learning Lab at UCLA in 1995. Dan and I knew him through research work with EToys Squeak environment, while he was initially working on Alice. My first conversation with Randy was a furious debate--he quite anit-Macintosh. Since that time he found the love of his life and has had three children. Through his illness, he taught us all how to really LIVE. (In his last lecture, he says he has had a death-bed conversion--he just bought a Macintosh!) "you can't control the cards you're dealt, just how you play the hand." |
Susan says that she wants to find a cure for breast cancer, period. Her partner, Helen Cooksey supported her efforts to help kids learn biology. Helen came to UES, UCLA to help with class dissections in life sciences studies. I took part in the first two stages of Susan's ductal lavage study, until I moved from LA. I ran my second marathon with her, as well as a subsequent half marathon. |
