Net Day

Internet co-founder and MCI SVP Dr. Vint Cerf and Internet co-founder at UCLA, Dr. Leonard Kleinrock, teamed up with students and teachers at UES to demonstrate "the classroom of tomorrow".

More than a dozen UES students showed how they use the Internet for their classroom lessons. Some students demonstrated video conferencing over the net with experts in genetics and poetry.

On hand for the demonstration, which was internationally televised, were:

Dr. Theodore Mitchell, Dean of the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies

Dr. Vinton Cerf, Co-Founder/Developer of the internet and MCI SVP

Dr. Leonard Kleinrock, Co-Founder of the Internet at UCLA

Dr Leonard Kleinrock discussed the internet with Upper UES students. Dr. Vint Cerf discussed with Upper Level students a Hypercard genetics FaceLab stack and how they used this in their classroom science lessons. Both observed Upper students videoconferencing with Dr. Leslie Bell, professor of Genetics at USC. Students asked Bell about fruit fly inheritance and the relation to human inheritance.
